The Classic Uptown Neighborhood Association is chartered by the City of Albuquerque to represent the concerns and best interests of our neighborhood residents.
The Classic Uptown Neighborhood Association (CUNA) represents the area contained within the following boundaries: Candelaria on the north; Menaul on the south; Pennsylvania on the east; and Louisiana on the west. CUNA was founded by a group of concerned residents and chartered by the City of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1998. Our name refers to the proximity of our neighborhood to the vibrant, urban Uptown area, and the landmark location of the former Classic Hotel (now the Sheraton Uptown.) Neighborhood associations are not the same as homeowner associations, eg. they have no enforcement powers and can't tell you what to do with your property, or restrict your freedoms in any way. Instead, neighborhood associations are organizations of involved residents who wish to provide forums for discussion of community issues, represent the best interests of their neighborhood to the City, and generally help promote the concept of community. CUNA has an elected Board of Directors, conducts regular executive and general membership meetings, and sponsors neighborhood activities and programs that seek to improve neighborhood safety and quality of life. The Classic Uptown Neighborhood Association is a non-profit corporation.
The Classic Uptown neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico is bounded by Candelaria Rd on the north; Menaul Blvd on the south; Pennsylvania St on the east; and Louisiana Blvd on the west.
